WINK News reports on a beautiful Veteran’s Day beach wedding between a retiring US Marine and his bride, at the Pink Shell Resort on Fort Myers Beach. Sadly, it looks like the last one to be provided by Operation Open Arms of Southwest Florida, which has been providing vacations and weddings to military servicemen.
Operation Open Arms, based in St. James City, is a nationally acclaimed military outreach program founded in 2005 (as featured on the NBC Today Show) and is the only 501(c)3 public Florida charity honored by two sitting United States Presidents. But due to low domations, after 99 weddings donated to servicemen and women, this wedding looks like their last.
The organization has provided thousands of other services to the troops, besides weddings.
Our servicemen and women, our veterans, and their spouses and families, continue to make great sacrifices for us. On this Veteran’s Day, consider what you can to to get involved and support their mission. Designated a public charity by the IRS in 2008, Operation Open Arms has no payroll or salaries.
